Biography

Michele Settel joined Ascential Care Partners as President in April, 2019. Ascential Care Partners, a URAC accredited company offers case management and utilization review services to the workers’ compensation industry. Michele has over 28 years’ experience developing case management programs and a wide range of cost containment programs including ancillary network, pharmacy benefits and laboratory services. Prior to joining Ascential Care Partners, Michele was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Workers’ Compensation at Cordant Health Solutions. In response to the growing nationwide opioid epidemic, Michele developed an Opioid Medication Monitoring program and sales/marketing plan specific to the workers’ compensation payer. The program was designed to increase treatment compliance and safety for injured workers and is widely utilized by Payers and Employers. Michele also served as Executive Vice President of Business Development at TechHealth. TechHealth was a large, national ancillary network offering a one-stop solution to payers coordinating all of their claimants’ ancillary service needs and was acquired by One Call Care Management in July, 2013. During her tenure, Michele was responsible for designing new program offerings and implementing a suite of services specific to the clients’ protocols. Michele was also responsible for all aspects of sales support activities including RFP response and presentation, contracting and renewal, account oversight and growth initiatives. Additional responsibilities included the implementation of formal quality assurance and training processes at both an operational and corporate level. Prior to joining TechHealth, Michele was a senior executive with Coventry Workers’ Compensation Services and its predecessor companies where she had responsibility for developing enhanced case management and utilization review offerings in conjunction with new account implementation and growth initiatives. Michele currently serves on the Board of Directors for First Touch Mission. First Touch Mission offers housing and disciplined support resources to women leaving prison to improve their transition and reduce chances of recidivism. Michele earned a Bachelors’ Degree of Science in Business Administration, graduating cum laude, from Missouri Baptist University.

Biography

Bonnie Dayhaw has over 25 years’ experience in the healthcare industry with a primary focus in Workers’ Compensation case management and utilization review. Before joining Ascential Care, Bonnie served as the Chief Operations Officer for a large, national workers’ compensation ancillary services company. Prior to that experience, Bonnie managed a large national Utilization Review and Telephonic Case Management division for Coventry Workers’ Comp Services. In both positions Bonnie was responsible for national case management, utilization review, and ancillary service operations serving a variety of customers ranging from nation-wide and regional Carriers, Third Party Administrators and Self-Insured/Self-Administered Employers to large state funds and municipalities.  While Bonnie has enjoyed an extensive career in workers’ compensation managed care services, Bonnie previously served in the military holding various high‐level security clearances and managing large overseas intelligence offices for over 10 years. Bonnie also has a great passion for helping foster children and was trained and certified as a guardian ad litem.  Bonnie has advocated in Tampa, FL courts on behalf of many children placed in the foster system. Bonnie is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Case Manager and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management.

Julie Anderson

Director of Account Management

Biography

Julie Anderson, Director of Account Management, has over 15 years’ experience in workers’ compensation managed care services. She is responsible for maintaining and strengthening current client relationships and providing collaborative solutions that promote positive outcomes for all claim stakeholders. Prior to joining Ascential Care Partners, Julie worked for Cordant Health Care Solutions, a laboratory toxicology company. She managed multiple client programs designed to improve medication compliance and safety for injured workers. Julie gained much experience in pharmacy benefit management programs as an Account Manager with myMatrixx an Express Scripts Company. Julie managed accounts from the Top 10 to the smallest account driving successful outcomes for their ancillary, pharmacy and clinical programs, as well as measuring outcomes and stewardship reporting. From the onboarding of each client program, Julie’s primary goal was ensuring optimal service and program satisfaction.
Prior to joining myMatrixx, Julie held a dual role as National Account Manager and Supervisor of Inside Sales and Business Development for MSC/One Call Care Management, a national ancillary network offering a one-stop solution for ancillary services. Julie has an established reputation driving successful organic growth initiatives and containing costs for her clients.

Diane E. Green

Biography

Diane Green is a recognized subject matter expert in workers’ compensation Utilization Review and URAC accreditation. She has spent 30+ years in healthcare, starting her career in the United States Navy Nurse Corps where her clinical focus included general medicine and outpatient surgery. Diane gained her first managed care experience as the Clinical Manager of three staff model HMO multi‐specialty practices where she experienced UR from the provider perspective. Diane began her workers’ compensation and URAC journey when she joined a large, national group health carrier and their newly created workers’ compensation division as a UR Nurse, eventually becoming a UR Supervisor, a UR Manager, and finally a Regional Director after relocating to open a National Utilization Review and Case Management department serving national workers’ compensation insurers and employers. Diane moved on to the Property and Casualty industry where she held various senior positions with two large, national workers’ compensation carriers and gained valuable experience on the use of clinical resources and products to manage the medical aspect of claims, contain medical and overall claim costs, and demonstrate measurable value to the claim. Diane joined Ascential Care Partners in 2015 and has been instrumental in developing Ascential Care’s Utilization Review program and product, securing and maintaining URAC WCUM accreditation, filing and maintaining the California UR plan as well as other state filings and certifications allowing Ascential Care to conduct UR nationally. Diane is a Registered Nurse and holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing as well as a master’s degree in healthcare management.

John Cardi, Vice President of Sales, has over 15 years of experience developing, coordinating, and executing sales strategies. He has proven success in generating new business opportunities and securing existing business relationships throughout the Worker’s Compensation, Managed Care, Employee Benefits and PBM spaces. During his career, John has worked across a wide range of industries including but not limited to the retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and insurance sectors. His experience includes working closely with some of the nation’s largest carriers, brokers, and well-known national brands.

Biography

Tiffany Melvin is a TCM Manager with oversight for the nurses and staff that support Ascential Care Partner’s eastern United States claims. She provides ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and overall evaluation of individual patient needs.  With her solution-oriented approach, Tiffany offers direction, proactive problem resolution and effectively guides team members to success in their advocacy roles. Tiffany understands the needs of her clients and excels at implementing processes and quality initiatives that improve the continuum of care. Tiffany entered the workers’ compensation industry after working over 20+ yrs in healthcare with14+ years in hospital case and utilization management and worked as a Nurse Case Manager in healthcare insurance and with a large Workers’ Compensation third party administrator. Tiffany is continuing her education with plans to pursue a Master’s Degree.

Biography

Dr. Avrom Gart, MD is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist in Los Angeles, California and will serve as the MRO for METRO. He graduated with honors from State University Of New York Downstate Medical Center in 1983. Having more than 36 years of diverse experiences, especially in physical medicine. Dr. Avrom Gart affiliates with Cedars- Sinai Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center. He is recognized by the state’s Worker’s Compensation Board as an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) and Qualified Medical Examiner (QME), Dr. Gart serves as an advisor to the Educational Committee of the International Spine Intervention Society and is a member of the nonprofit Physicians for Social Responsibility. He is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and American Academy of Pain Management.
Dr. Gart maintains a network of ABMS board-certified, licensed, active-practice physicians and healthcare professionals covering a wide range of sub-specialties who will be available as a second MRO for reconsideration submissions.

Diana Danner, RN, CCM

Biography

Diana Danner has over 25 years’ experience in the Workers’ Compensation Industry as a Nurse Case Manager in both the field and telephonic settings. She has supervised the Opioid/Rx Advise program for the past three years with the focus being on educating patients about the CDC guidelines and discussing medication weaning plans with physicians. With her knowledge of state UR rules, Diana is often sought out by clients to assist with WC administrative board presentations.  Diana supervises the utilization review team that is fully dedicated to meeting Ascential’s growing volume of UR requests. Prior to her career in workers’ compensation case management services, Diana spent several years in emergency medicine where she received her certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse.  When she is not working, Diana volunteers with a local group of churches providing services to the homeless population including the distribution of personal hygiene items, meals and direction to medical care.

Biography

Denise Glessner has over 19 years’ experience in the nursing industry with a focus in case management and utilization review. Denise joined Ascential Care Partners in 2019 where she has oversight for the nurses and staff that support Ascential Care Partner’s western United States claims.  Denise’s vast experience and proficiency in various managed care settings including hospital, office, and telecommuting environments is truly an asset to the Ascential Care team. Prior to joining Ascential Care, Denise’s expertise was fundamental in the establishment of a Utilization Review program and a Medical Provider Network that was approved by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation. Denise is a Public Health Nurse, Certified Case Manager, and a Worker’s Compensation Certified Professional.
